the pushkar camel fair, at dusk. for five days in november, the town of pushkar, in india’s desert state of rajasthan, hosts an annual camel fair. what started as a simple gathering of livestock traders now draws thousands of tourists and camels. the pushkar mela ends on the kartik purnima (night of the full moon), which celebrates the creation of pushkar lake by the hindu god brahma. photos by roberto schmidt, kevin frayer, ajit solanki, deepak sharma and rajesh kumar singh via the big picture, the atlantic, the telegraph, and the telegraph again.
